Who we are

Roofing Collective NZ operates roofingcollective.co.nz and a number of local roofing enquiry websites under their own names. When you send an enquiry through any of them, it comes to the same team. Contact: hello@roofingcollective.co.nz.

What we collect

Homeowners: the details you give in an enquiry (name, phone number, email, suburb and address if you add it, a description of the job, photos if you add them, how urgent it is), the website the enquiry came from, and notes from any call we make to you. We also keep a hashed form of your IP address to prevent abuse, never the address itself. Roofers and their staff: business and contact details, login details, profile content, billing records (card details are held by Stripe, not us) and the enquiries sent to you.

Why

To check your enquiry is genuine, to pass it to one roofer who can help, to confirm afterwards that the roofer made contact, to send you a confirmation email, to run and improve the service, to bill roofers, and to meet our legal obligations.

Who sees it

One roofer receives the details of your enquiry so they can contact you about this job. That roofer may use your details only to quote and carry out the work, not for marketing, and must keep them secure. Our own team sees enquiries to review them and to follow up. We do not sell personal information.

Service providers

We use Cloudflare (hosting), Stripe (payments), Resend (email), Sentry (error monitoring) and Plausible (website statistics, no cookies, no personal identifiers). Some of these process data outside New Zealand under their own security and privacy commitments; they act on our instructions and do not use the data for their own purposes.

How long we keep it

Enquiries are kept for as long as needed to run the service and meet record-keeping obligations, after which personal details are removed or anonymised. Roofer billing records are kept for the period required by tax law.

Your rights

You can ask what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by emailing hello@roofingcollective.co.nz. We respond within 20 working days. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information you can complain to us, and to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner (privacy.org.nz).

Cookies and analytics

Our public websites set no cookies. We use Plausible, a cookieless analytics service, to count visits. The roofer portal uses a login cookie that is necessary for it to work.

Calls

For some enquiries we phone you to confirm the job and arrange a time for the roofer. After a job is passed on we may phone or email once to ask whether the roofer made contact. We do not record calls.

Security and breaches

We limit access to personal information to the people who need it, use encrypted connections and reputable providers, and if a breach is likely to cause serious harm we notify the people affected and the Privacy Commissioner as the Privacy Act 2020 requires.

Changes

We will post updates here with a new version number and date.
